On Monday, 4 August, it will be 100 years since the declaration that began the conflict of the Great War.
At Santa Margarita, this will be commemorated on two occasions: with Morning Prayer, at 11:00, and with a form of Evening Prayer, at 17:00. The evening service, in particular, will reflect the contrast between darkness and light, captured in the words of Sir Edward Grey: “The lamps are going out all over Europe.”
Each service will consist of prayer with both biblical and non-biblical readings. They are open to all, regardless of religious affiliation.
