Gonville & Caius College Choir 2017

In July 2017, Menorca will be graced by a visit from the Collegiate Choir of Gonville & Caius College, Cambridge, under the direction of Dr Geoffrey Webber, who will also be the accompanying organist.

On 20 July, the choir will participate in the patronal festival of the Anglican Church in Menorca at the chapel of Santa Margarita in Es Castell by singing choral evensong.  The liturgy will include O Radiant Dawn, by James MacMillan; the Preces & Responses of Thomas Morley; Psalm 97 in a chant setting by Thomas Hanforth; the Canticles (Magnificat, Nunc Dimittis) by George Dyson; the Anthem, Glorious and Powerful God, by Charles Wood; and the hymn: Jerusalem the Golden.  The celebration will begin with a procession from the Roman Catholic parish church of El Roser at 20:00.

On the following days (21 July in Es Migjorn Gran; 22 July in Santa Maria, Mahón; 23 July in Es Castell) the choir will perform a variety of choral works ranging from the 16th to the 20th centuries.  Each of these concerts will begin at 21:00.

The choir has a formidable reputation based upon its concert performances, its recordings and its tours.  More information can be found on the choir’s web site.
